| Hobie Adventure Island Tandem The Adventure Island Tandem takes the tried and tested design of the Adventure kayak and then adds two outriggers and an additional seat. The Cockpit section offers a stable and comfortable platform for use as a normal sit on top kayak. All the features you would expect from a Hobie are here including an adjustable high back padded seat, twist and lock hatches, mesh storage pockets, drink holder and deck bungees all make for an enjoyable and practical environment. In this tandem form the Adventure Island is perfect for cruising or a spot of fishing. The Adventure Island Tandem comes with paddle and Hobie’s patented Mirage Drive for each passenger, but it also has an ace up its sleeve. Add the two outriggers and put up the sail to realise the full potential of the Hobie Adventure Island Tandem. Its excellent speed, range, and ease-of-use make this a unique sailing machine unlike any other sailing craft on the water and will open up a new world of touring possibilities. In its sailing form the Adventure Island Tandem kayak features a boomless, roller-furling sail rig with 5.34 square metre sail area providing excellent performance that is completely manageable from the cockpit with the pull of a line. The sail will reduce in size to suit all abilities and wind strengths up to a force 4. Two retractable amas or outriggers can fold up against the side of the boat with the simple pull of a line for easy docking, manoeuvrability, and transport. The Adventure Island Tandem is loaded with additional standard features such as a dagger board; oversized "twist and stow" rudder; mast and sail cover; and an Ama / Dagger board bag. In this form the Hobie Adventure Island Tandem is an ideal kayak for touring around larger bodies of inland water, estuaries and coastlines. The Hobie Adventure Island Tandem has been designed with ease of use in mind. Well placed lifting handles make this kayak simple to car top and then just wheel it into the water, swing out and fix the outriggers with the easy to use pop-on arm, drop the rudder, unfurl the sail and off you go. |

Hobie Mirage Drive System The Hobie Mirage Drive System is a simple yet very effective system. It allows you to use your legs to move the kayak forwards and backwards without using your arms. You can use the rudder to turn. The Mirage Drive is removable, quiet and produces no splashing. It mimics a penguin’s flippers to create momentum which enables the kayak to move. |
