Electric Outboard Engine For Salt Water Use

The Minn Kota Riptide electric outboard motor is designed specifically for saltwater use, but can still be used on fresh water. The Riptide range of electric outboard motors feature advanced corrosion protection using premium grade alloys that are impervious to rust unlike the fresh water motor models which are not recommended for salt water use.

This motor is a transom mounting motor, available with thrust levels ranging from 45 - 112lbs & can be mounted on square stern boats, tenders or using a Wooden Canoe Motor Mount on open canoes with box profile gunwales.

Minn Kota supply the Riptide in 4 different thrusts (45/55/80/112) with differing shaft lengths and voltages. Variable Speed Motors use Min Kotas innovative Digital Maximiser Technology which allows for a progressive throttle adjustment delivering only the power you require. This in turn provides up to five times longer battery life on a single charge, maximising your time on the water. 

5 Speed Riptide electric motors are a more budget friendly option but they only offer a click through speed option, using a 5 speed forward and 3 speed reverse option. Due to this they are not quite as efficient when on the water meaning that your battery will not last as long per charge. 

The Riptide 45 & 55 thrust both require a 12v battery (Not Included) with the option of  wither 36" or 42" shaft depending on the boats draft. 

The Rip Tide 80 is a 24v 42" Shaft and the 112 is a 36v 52" Shaft - Please Note Batteries are Not Included with any Minn Kota Electric Motor.

The Riptide has a unique barring system which produces low rpms/high torque to cut down on noise. The shaft of the motor is a composite construction which will allow flex on impact, then return to its original shape, Minn Kota offer a Guarantee for life on the shaft of Riptide range.

The tiller control handle includes a 6" telescopic adjustment for greater comfort ensuring the operator doesn't have to stretch too far in order to keep control.

The Riptide Electric Outboard Motors are great for fishing trips, canoes or as an auxiliary for tenders in saltwater, perfect for around the Norfolk coast and Norfolk Broads.
