The Nova Craft Prospector 16 in TuffStuff is a popular and widely paddled canoe due to it's size being ideal for both tandem and solo paddling. Now with the arrival of Nova Craft's superb Tuff Stuff and Tuff Stuff Expedition materials, the Prospector 16 is amazingly light and so easy to portage considering its size. Made in the home of open boating - Canada, Nova Craft have been manufacturing canoes for over 50 years and are world renowned for their quality designs and workmanship.

The hull shape of the Prospector 16 TuffStuff is extremely versatile across so many different types of water, from calm recreational paddling on lakes, rivers and broads, to paddling down some moving water. While these canoes are "capable" for use on whitewater, bouncing off rocks is not something we would recommend when it comes to lightweight laminate open canoes. The Prospector 16 TuffStuff has a shape that is supremely manoeuvrable, forgiving and also great fun to paddle. This makes it ideal for those wanting to hone their skills and take their canoeing to the next level as well as those just starting out wanting a lightweight versatile canoe.

TuffStuff as a material is a great innovation from Nova Craft. It is a composite material made up of Basalt and innegra fibres. The Basalt fibre is made of melted basalt rock and Innegra is a fibre consisting mostly of polypropylene, when woven together into a cloth and infused with Nova Craft's high impact vinylester resin system the outcome is not only lightweight but also TuffStuff. Finished with a smooth and shiny gel coat on the external of the hull these canoes look amazing and can really perform on the water. While after use (and potentially some abuse) canoes get scratches and scrapes on them the great thing about gel coat is it can be repaired with a Colour Match Gel Coat Repair Kit and the damage is pretty much undone.

If you want a more rigid, tougher, more high performance Nova Craft Prospector 16 perfect for expeditions then consider the Nova Craft TuffStuff Expedition construction. This construction offers additional layers of TuffStuff through the bottom of the canoe, while this does add a little weight it allows the canoe to take a bit more punishment and offer even more on the water performance.

The Nova Craft Prospector 16 TuffStuff comes with 2 x Ash Wood Bootlace Seats, a Deluxe Deep Dish Carrying Yoke, An Ash Thwart, Ash Wood carrying handles and built-in buoyancy tanks in the bow and stern. Options such as factory fitted skid plates, kneeling thwart and special colours are also available upon request.
