The Islay 14 retains the stability that paddlers know and love in the Islay 12 but as venture have elongated the hull it allows for more on the water performance. Ideal for both beginner and intermediate paddlers looking to develop their paddling skills on lakes, rivers and broads this touring kayak offers a lot. A fine entry and exit line ensure for a touring kayak that tracks well, holding its line even through a little chop, the drop down skeg allows this to continue even if the conditions turn against you. Nicely rounded chines inspire confidence when paddlers start to learn negative edging for easier turns, this offers great feedback so the paddler is not surprised how the Islay behaves and ensure minimal loss of forwards efficiency when moving forwards.

Using the connect outfitting to keep paddlers comfortable when out paddling for a day or longer weekend trip. Utilising an adjustable backband, padded seat base, semi-aggressive well connected thigh braces and adjustable foot pegs, getting a good fit in the Islay 14 is simple. Bow and Stern storage hatches with bulkheads and deck bungees give plenty of room internally and externally for gear, be it for just a day trip or for a weekend adventure. Deck lines allow for paddlers to grab onto the kayak anywhere down the length of either side of the Islay, this is ideal for self rescues or if rescuing another paddler. A security attachment point has even been installed to keep the Islay 14 safe when locked up on roof racks or in storage racks. If paddlers need more on deck storage that is close to hand the Venture Storage Pod can be installed into the moulded recess to the front deck of the Islay 14 - This is an optional extra and not included as standard. When carrying to and from the water or car topping the Islay 14 has bungee retractable handles which makes life much easier and stops any annoying handle flapping when transporting or paddling.
