A Superb Solo Canoe For Tripping

The Swift Canoes Prospector 15 Solo is a super lightweight open canoe that has been designed for paddlers wanting to do some tripping or multi-day paddles with a good size load on board. The great carry capacity not only allows for all the gear you could want to take with you but is also ideal for those who want to day trip with a dog friend on board. The overall waterline length makes this canoe perfect for larger paddlers, mid size paddlers loaded up with gear or paddlers with a lot of power in their paddle stroke, it gives a great feel of glide between paddle strokes.   

Thanks to the brilliant hull shape the stability is great even when loaded up with either gear or a larger dog. The minimal hull rocker along with its shallow arch shaping ensures for great straight line tracking as well as allowing for easier carving into a turn, even with a mild amount of heeling the Prospector 15 Solo on to an edge. More experienced traditional solo canoe paddlers will love how well this canoe sit on its edge, this is thanks to the lower rounded chined area and upper tumble-home, meaning you can get the Prospector 15 Solo right over and still feel nice and solid. This is the best way to really press on and cover the miles in this particular lightweight open canoe. The rounded chine ensures in choppy conditions that the waves roll under the canoe without really effecting the paddle. The freeboard is at a superb height that allows beginner paddlers to gain confidence quickly (even when packed up with gear or a large dog). However as the paddlers skills progress or if your are an intermediate/advance paddler the tumble-home adds so much paddleability to the Prospector 15 Solo, ensuring the paddler never feels as if they are reaching over the side of the canoe which allows for a much more controlled and enjoyable paddle stroke.    

Constructed as standard from the well loved Kevlar Fusion which offers Swift Canoes best strength to weight ratio. This laminate is made with a urethane resin system ensuring top durability & longevity, along with a thin layer of exterior UV shield. The hull is constructed of an exterior layer of polyester as well as S-Glass & Kevlar cloth layers sandwiching a lovely durable foam cored ribbing system. The laminate is then fused together with a high impact yet flexible urethane acrylate resin system, this is injected during a high pressure infusion process which produces the optimal dispersion and laminate consistency. Based on a laminate material construction Kevlar Fusion is one of the most popular material as it offers great abrasion and impact resistance. Swift Canoes have now developed their UV shield that is use on all their current hulls, this gives even better protection and added levels of scratch resistance - which is always handy on any laminate canoe. This UV shield helps reduce the impact of the sun/UV on the Swift canoes laminates as well as allowing Swift to reduce the overall canoe weight. The UV shield adds some scratch resistance to the hull, meaning while scratches will initially be visible, after some 303 aerospace protectant spray is applied, most scratches are much less visible - if still visible at all. Scratches way less of a concern with any Swift Canoes anyway due to them being impregnated with the resin during construction, meaning the laminate material of a Swift hull is never exposed, even with deeper scratches and doesn't require repair unlike other brands using laminate constructions. It is still important to remember as with any laminate boat, a single application of 303 aerospace protectant will only last for a couple of trips before being washed off and needing to be reapplied. All Swift Canoes can be finished in some stunning colour finishes giving them a really vibrant and exciting exterior look especially with a 2 tone hull.

 The gunwales on a Swift Canoe are unlike any other canoes out there,  thanks to their unique manufacture process which enables them to infuse the canoe hull and gunwales as one part. Fusing the hull and gunwales help create a stiffer canoe and the foam filled internal adds buoyancy on top of the foam filled rib structure and bow/stern buoyancy tanks. This stunning looking Carbon Kevlar trim ensures the weight is kept as low as possible but is still nice and durable for day to day uses. This trim is maintenance free meaning you can get out and paddle with no worries.
