An Entry Level Hobie With Classic Mirage Pedal Drive

If you're a paddler who has always admired the performance of Hobie kayaks on the water but the cost of them seemed out of reach, Hobie might just have produced the boat of your dreams. Enter the Hobie Passport Mirage Drive kayak. This nifty little sit on top has all the features you would come to expect from a Hobie Mirage Drive kayak but in an outfitting spec which brings the cost right down, making it available to a much wider range of sit-on-top paddlers. The Hobie Passport has a great looking two-tone colour 10.5 ft long Thermoformed hull that’s lightweight and easy to handle off the water, but rigid and stable for great performance on it. There are also a couple of fitted rear-facing flush rod holders behind the seat and accessory mounting rails in front, making the Passport a great little boat for kayak fishing too.

Pedalling the Hobie Passport is easy using the Mirage Drive System that drops neatly into the hull. Coming equipped with the Mirage Drive with kick-up fins included, this newer version of the Mirage Drive, should you hit an underwater obstruction the fins simply fold back allowing you to glide over the obstacle, and then they flick down and re-engage once you're over it and start pedalling again. Controlling it is straight forward too thanks to the rudder and steering handle right next to the seat. The seat itself is a simple aluminium frame and mesh affair that’s comfortable and features a tilt adjustment. You can move the arms on the Mirage Drive to accommodate paddlers of different heights, making the Passport ideal for a whole variety of people to use.

Other features on the Hobie Passport include a handy 8-inch twist and seal hatch for access into the hull for storage, a good-sized rear storage tank with bungee's over, a 2 piece paddle included and paddle park on the boat itself. There is even an accessory tube to the front of the boat that means you can add a sail kit as an option as well!
