A Popular Lightweight Fishing Kayak

The Viking Profish 400 is a lightweight fishing sit on top kayak, with top level on the water performance and a great amount of fishing features included as standard. Taking inspiration from one of the highest performance sea fishing kayaks in the Viking Kayaks Profish Reload, the Profish 400 is a lighter weight scaled down version. Its 30kg hull weight and 4.1m length makes it perfect for paddlers wanting an easier fishing kayak to move around off the water.

Viking have given the Profish 400 a flared bow allowing it to deal with a good amount of chop, while its smooth hull and aggressive entry line ensures it can cut through the water with ease and maintain speed. An elongated stern acts like a skeg ensuring the Profish 400 can hold a line and track well in most conditions. For newer paddlers in moderate conditions the Profish 400 is superb and grows the paddlers confidence, but as paddlers become more experienced and progress into tougher sea conditions the Profish 400 can really comes alive.   

The outfitting of the Profish 400 has been designed to be as user friendly as possible, starting with 2 solid side carry handles that make car topping much easier. A webbing handle on the bow and 2 webbing handles at the rear make for simple 2 person moving around off the water. To the front of the cockpit area Viking have used a raised lip to deflect away as much splash, spray or breaking water coming over the nose as possible, this raised lip also has some cut outs to locate rod tips in. Just back from this a large oval hatch with additional securing straps offers entry into the hull, this is a perfect opening for fitting a trolley and or dry bags inside the kayak. The central storage-well is its own compartment ensuring it is stress free getting essential items out, without having to worry about water getting into the hull, this area has a bungee secured lid with a chopping board on top that's ideal for dealing with bait and fish. A deep seating position not only lowers the paddlers centre of gravity, for a more stable feeling when paddling or playing a fish, but along with the adjustable foot rests ensures the paddler is comfortable for a full day on the water. An additional sit on top kayak seat or Hurricane backrest could also be fitted for added comfort (these are not included as standard). 

Paddle parks either side of the seating position are in quick reach allowing the paddler to stow their paddle and get to a rod when needed. Viking have fitted 2 forward facing flush mounted rod holders and 4 rear facing flush mounted rod holders, giving plenty of space for taking all the rods you could want. Between the rear rod holders are 2 Railblaza Star Port HD mounts with another 1 between the stern carry handles, perfect for mounting other accessories like visibility flags or nav lights. Just between the paddlers legs is a twist lock storage hatch which is handy for keeping bait, hooks or anything else you might want to get to easily. Additional storage bungees right on the nose of the kayak ensure there are options for keeping everything secure on the Profish 400. 

The large rear storage tank offers a great space for other gear, or to add the optional extra Viking Kayaks Chill Pod or Viking Kayaks Insulated Fish Bag, these are ideal for keeping your bait or catches fresh. For those who love this kind of customisation, Viking have put a large transducer recess under the Profish 400 to make fitting a fish finder easy. They have even designed a Viking Kayaks Fish Finder Install Kit (Not Included) to help with the process. To the side of the Profish 400 Viking have added moulded-in threaded inserts (designed to take an M5 bolt) which give the paddler a simple place to install an anchor trolley kit without having to drill holes in their new kayak.
