Badger Paddles Swifty
The Badger Paddles Swifty is a beautifully crafted open canoe paddle, constructed from Cherry Wood with an oiled finish it feels superb in hand. Developed by both Badger Paddles and Bill Swift of Swift Canoes the Swifty blade shape strikes the perfect balance between the La Bonga and the Badgertail paddles. This high volume beavertail style blade offers a smooth yet powerful stroke without the need to run the blade as deeply in the water. The smooth well proportioned blade gives that easy exit from the water which in turn allows for acceleration and precision maneuvering.
The Badger Paddles Swifty has a North Woods inspired grip this ensures paddlers can adjust their hands to shorten or indeed lengthen the paddle for a versatile stroke. Wheather you're a paddler looking to just have a lovely feeling, versatile paddle that can be used to develop stroke techniques on everyday paddling or if you're a paddler looking for a serious paddle to cover long distances on expeditions the Swifty delivers the power and control needed.
Badger Paddles specialize in making smooth, oiled Canoe Paddles which are not only joy to hold, but look brilliant and offer brilliant on the water performance. The Swifty paddle has Badgers signature transitional ridge between the shaft and blade this ensures a strong backbone which travels well into the paddle blade. A uniform mid-blade flexion is achieved with a gradually tapering ridge transition, this ridge helps to creates the smooth flow of water moving around the blade surface, giving the smooth and powerful paddle stroke Badger Paddles are known for.
Badger Paddles are all supplied with a protective paddle sock for transport and storage as well as some sleek design engraving of the Badger Paw on the Blade. For maintaining your Badger Paddle we recommend using Badger Paddles Canoe Paddle Oil.

Paddle Maintenance - Using Badger Oil
Instructions for oiling your canoe paddle:
- First prepare the wood by making sure it is clean & dry.
- Sand where necessary & ensure the surface is free of loose particles & dust.
- Apply oil with a clean rag*.
- Use a fine sandpaper to “wet sand” using the oil for lubrication.
- Let stand for a few minutes to allow oil to penetrate.
- Wipe away excess Badger Oil, if any, with a clean rag then leave to dry for 12 hours.
*For larger applications, a brush, roller, or sprayer could be used.
Repeat if necessary. Number of coats determined by desired results, amount of use, and exposure to the elements. We recommend a minimum of 4 coats on bare wood. Drying time is approximately 24 to 36 hours. Please allow 24 hours between coats. Approximate coverage:3 square meters per litre. Provides a water resistant coating. Safe for food contact times.
